Starting of Strong
As we welcome 2026 and the start of the new school year, lets aim for a strong start with our students. As always, introduction lessons are scheduled for the first class of the year for all levels. Please use this class to introduce yourself, learn about your students, set clear classroom rooms and expectations, start to develop key routines, and have students build rapport with each other!
Template Updates
New lesson templates have been implemented that add emphasis to the teaching section of the class (see below), provide a new note page, and offers a updated instructions sections to highlight the key instructions of an activity clearly and then more detailed notes as needed.
E6 Changes
Starting from 2026 NETs E6 students will have 1 hour per week with NETs rather than 2 hours. New term schedules reflect these changes for the content we will cover in our classes. Note: KTs are responsible for running the Oxford contest with students and we will assist with grading the final book reports and selecting winners.
Teaching the Skill - Teacher Focused and Whiteboard Usage
Following the Winter Workshop, we are excited to see an increase of whiteboard teaching when it comes to the lesson skill with teachers facilitating the introduction and explanation of the skill through strong interactions. Clear understanding of the skill and prior preparation of the boardwork will be needed to achieve this.
The following teachers were awarded lesson planning breaks for excellent lesson uploads during the winter semester.
Taylor S (SPA) - E4 Perseus
Michaela (YTG) - E4 Theseus
Vanessa (YTG) - M2 Ursa
Oxford University Press - Reading and Book Report Contest
Elementary students will be participating in the Oxford Contest again this year. NETs will run all aspects of the contest for E4 and E5 students. As noted above, KTs will cover the in class portion of the contest with E6 students. We will still assist with the grading and selection of winners for E6 but have no responsibilities other than that for E6.
